Quick Look: DeliciousSafari

Because I work across at least three machines every week, and often a few more, I rely on del.icio.us for keeping track of my favourite sites. On the Windows boxes, I’ve installed the excellent del.icio.us add-on for Firefox, but when I get home to my MacBook, I prefer to run Safari (faster, less buggy, etc.). Until recently, I have relied on Pukka, which is a great solution, especially for posting new sites. But now there’s DeliciousSafari ($10).
DeliciousSafari is a SIMBL plugin that adds a new item to your menu bar in Safari. Click on this, and you can see all of your del.icio.us tags, and from those tags you can access all your favourites. You can also add new pages to your del.icio.us account, and easily import your Safari bookmarks. You’re able to view your recently tagged items - which is something you can’t do with Pukka, so score one for DeliciousSafari (you can see these with the Firefox add-on mentioned previously). And a really cool feature is that you can select a number of favourite tags and have those appear in the drop-down menu itself, so that you don’t need to navigate through your tags to find your favouritest favourites!
DeliciousSafari does one thing and does it very well indeed. If, like me, you find yourself relying on the simple magic of del.icio.us every day, then this is a great little add-on, and in my opinion well-worth the money. I’ll happily lay out 10 bucks to make Safari an even better browser.
