New iPod touch ad runs on TV

ipodtouch_ad1.jpg

A new iPod touch television ad ran last night during Desperate Housewives and the World Series game which has become a hit across the Internet. It started when Nick Haley, an avid Apple fan, posted his version of an iPod touch ad on YouTube.com. Apple’s advertising agency, TBWA/Chiat/Day, then contacted Haley after it was viewed by marketing executives at Apple in Cupertino.

“I was sitting on the bus and I got this e-mail on my phone,” Mr. Haley, a native of Warwick, England, said in an interview yesterday from the University of Leeds, where he is a “fresher,” or first-year student.

The message said, “We represent Apple and we’ve seen what you have produced and we’d like a chat with you,” Mr. Haley recalled, adding: “This seemed ridiculous and far-fetched. My initial reaction was, someone wanted to steal it.”

The original version can be viewed on YouTube while the final version is available on Apple’s website. View the interview with Haley at the New York Times.
